Ah yes, Sabine, that is interesting. I wonder is it that something in our present life summons a memory but puts a spin on it related to that present day prompt, like seeing through tinted glasses?

What an enchanting memory Catriona! It shows how strong the imagination is, that it could imprint such a sight on your memory. I have a vivid memory of seeing a pixie or leprechaun standing beside a tree in Phoenix Park. I was probably only three or four at the time. Maybe at that age we can't distinguish fully between reality and imagination . . .

Thanks Noirin.

How funny that you remember going to Cork in a lorry! Maybe you did and your mother just didn't like you saying it! I'll have to think about that one . . .

I love the way we're getting to know Lucy better now, seen through Deb's eyes. And how children learn about the world.

That's a wonderful 1st memory Catriona!

As a child I often said that my first memory was when we went down to Cork (granny's house) in a lorry, I remember being a small baby lying on my mother's lap and a strange man beside us, driving. But at some stage my mum told me to stop saying that as we never went to Cork in a lorry.

Maybe Aisling's next novel will explore the story around whatever I was remembering!

I find it curious that we remember the same incidents from childhood differently over time.

My earliest memory is of seeing Santa in his sleigh with his reindeer flying above the trees in front of our house... I think I would have been 2 or 3... But I have no other memories from that period... surely there must be studies on this?
